Before Ansthesia
Your surgical procedure has been scheduled to be done with General Anesthesia. In order to safely provide this service to you, it is very important to follow the instructions below. If you have any questions, please contact our office prior to your surgery.
- Patients should have NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK EIGHT (8) HOURS PRIOR TO SURGERY. Take all daily medications; including the ones prescribed by Dr. Krueger, the morning of surgery with a small sip of water unless otherwise specified. Failure to follow this instruction can result in life-threatening complications during anesthesia.
- Please wear a short sleeved shirt to allow easier application of the monitoring devises.
- If you wear contacts lenses, please do not wear them the day of surgery. Wearing contacts during surgery can result in severe damage to your eyes. Facial piercing and all jewelry, including earrings, need to be removed prior to surgery as well.
- After the procedure, you will not be able to drive home and will need someone to be with you at home for four to six hours after the surgery to insure your safety. We require that your driver/escort be at the office before we can begin the procedure and remain in the office during the procedure. This insures that you will have a proper escort available when you are ready to be discharged from our office. You should not plan on driving for 24 hours after the anesthesia.
- All minors MUST be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent throughout the entire procedure.
- If you have any questions or concerns, please call the office prior to your surgery and ask us to assist you. This often helps avoid misunderstandings and delays in your surgery.
